NLH's board is now able to make fact based decisions in support of its mission due to the Executive Board scorecards Passerelle built and delivered.

NLH (Northern Light Health) is an integrated health delivery system consisting of 9 hospitals and 13,000 employees serving the state of Maine. A need existed to set a modern analytical platform in place to enable NLH to best meet its goals. The objective of engaging Abilis was to develop executive dashboards to support the board viewing outcomes and costs across the system.

Challenges

  • NLH partners with many individuals and communities to improve health and well-being by providing high quality, cost effective services.
  • NLH collects a lot of data on medical outcomes and cost of care and it is challenging to turn data into knowledge to drive down costs and improve care.
  • 3 Excel scorecards were produced and challenges existed to keep these current and deliver more robust visualizations to make better decisions.
  • There was a time and resource effort to build these dashboards for production.

Solutions

  • Passerelle delivered the three scorecards in Tableau using the current Excel view as the baseline.
  • Passerelle built these scorecards in an Agile/SCRUM fashion, ensuring they met the board’s needs and were delivered on time/on budget.
  • Passerelle continues to play a role to support training NLH’s staff and also providing further services where needed for success.
  • Technologies included Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, Excel and SQL server.
