Analytics Engineer
Location: Remote
Passerelle is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Analytics Engineer with expertise in data visualization and analytics to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support data initiatives by ensuring high-quality, timely, and actionable data is available to inform decisions. A strong emphasis is placed on dashboard development, SQL-based analysis, architecture, and data governance in healthcare or government settings. Passerelle is unable to provide visa sponsorship. Duties & Responsibilities
Analytics & Data Management
- Coordinate technical aspects of data operations, including data quality, completeness, timeliness, validation, and onboarding of data streams.
- Perform ad-hoc SQL queries and data analysis to support internal and external partners.
- Maintain and optimize SQL databases.
- Develop interactive, visually compelling dashboards and reports tailored to meet business requirements.
- Integrate data from diverse sources (relational databases, spreadsheets, cloud platforms, GIS, ETL pipelines).
- Perform conceptual/logical/physical dimensional data modelling and provide guidance/consultation on schema designs and schema evolution for enhancements/updates.
Reporting & Visualization
- Conduct data quality and analysis reports for facilities and technical staff.
- Create visualizations, charts, and graphs that effectively communicate key metrics and health indicators to stakeholders.
- Optimize dashboards for performance and efficiency.
Collaboration & Support
- Respond to calls regarding data-related inquiries.
- Facilitate meetings on Informatics with the department and stakeholders; document and distribute minutes.
- Provide training and support to end-users on functionality, best practices, and dashboard use.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, IT, and data engineers.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure strict adherence to data governance policies, focusing on security, privacy, and quality assurance.
- Use ETL tools (e.g., Qlik Talend, Alteryx) for data preparation and integration prior to visualization.
- Stay current on product developments and industry trends to continually enhance capabilities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in public health informatics, biostatistics, data science, or a related field and one (1) year of experience working with public health informatics in a state or county health department; OR Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of combined training/experience in data analysis or informatics.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in data manipulation and visualization using tools such as Tableau, SQL, R, SAS, Excel, GIS, Alteryx (certification in at least one tool preferred).
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets, uncover insights, and communicate findings effectively.
- Strong technical skills in SQL and database management systems.
- Experience with ETL tools and data integration methods.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred:
- Experience working in healthcare, state, or local government sectors.
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards (HIPAA, PHI).
